Haarlem, Verspronckweg: a nest in a street tree

Now that the leaves are falling, they become visible: large Asian hornet nests high in street trees. Like this one on Verspronckweg in Haarlem.

Haarlem, Verspronckweg: a nest in a street tree

Autumn is the time when you suddenly spot them: now that the leaves are falling, large Asian hornet nests appear high up in trees that nobody had noticed all summer.

This one hung in a street tree on Verspronckweg in Haarlem — right above the pavement and parked cars, with residents walking underneath every day.

We set up with a ladder, the telescopic lance and our professional suction unit, in full protective suits. The hornets are vacuumed from the nest from a safe distance before the nest itself comes down.

Seen a nest like this? Keep your distance, don't throw anything at it and don't try to remove it yourself. Send a photo via WhatsApp and we'll tell you what to do.
